1. There is no banter like gaeltacht banter - whether its drawing all over someone’s face while they sleep, or running along the stone walls in Connemara, the fun you have in the gaeltacht is something you will never forget...
2. You learn Irish – forget exams and tests, how cool is it to be able to go on holidays and speak to your mates in a language no-one else can understand? Bonus points for being super helpful in exams….even if the only thing you can remember is “gabh mo leithscéal?!"
3. You get to see the West…as horrific as this sounds, the West can actually be interesting. There is fab beaches, cool historical stuff and deadly lakes to canoe in.
4. You make new friends – real friends, the kind you keep for life. Nothing makes you closer to someone than spending 3 weeks with them, having the craic and chatting – all in irish, of course.
5. You get to show off your new wardrobe – including wellies, trackies, and those really cute pair of shorts you just had to buy…
6. It’s a new experience – being somewhere away from home and having to be independent for 3 weeks broadens your horizons and gives you a new sense of confidence.
7. You miss your family – as silly as it sounds, being gone for 3 weeks shows you how much youll miss your family when you eventually move out, and gives you a new sense of appreciation for them!
